DNA On A Stick

Experiment Objective

The objective of this experiment is to spool chromosomal DNAfrom a buffer solution containing sodium chloride. The DNA was isolated from diploid cells which contain approximately 3 billion base pairs.

This experiment will provide a “hands-on” activity and opportunity for students to develop an appreciation for the physical nature of DNA and the process of DNA purification by spooling on a stick.
