Foods are rich sources of biological materials to study scientific concepts. A variety of common foodstuffs will be used as tools to determine the presence or absence of starch or sugar in foods. Other activities will center around the breakdown of foods by enzymes and the use of natural plant pigments as acid-base indicators.

 

Includes: Starch detection solution, starch, sugar, sheet of filter paper, strips of pH indicator paper, small transfer pipets, content background, experiment procedures, safety information and assessment questions and answers.
