new graphicWhat is Density?

(Components for 8 experiments)

Density is defined by comparing the weight of an object divided by its size. A cube of metal has more mass than the same size plastic cube. Likewise, oil floats over water because the volume it displaces is less dense than that for water. In this experiment, various layers of oil with different densities will be used to determine the density of common liquids.

Includes: Various oil samples of known densities, unknown oils, plastic transfer pipets, two graduated cylinders, content background, experiment procedures, safety information, assessment questions and answers.
